Kabaret time in Sydney is fast approaching, and we wanted our international Kino cousins to be the first to get an advance sneak peek at our grand plan for 2010.
We’re inviting all of you to keep your northern summers rolling and join us for Kino Sydney’s Kabaret from 19 - 24 October 2010. Here are just some of the Kabaret perks that we’re looking forward to:
* the theme this year is GAME ON!. Think bloody contact roller sports, debauched back-room gambling dens, and victorious hardcore gamers. 2010 is the year Kino takes play to a whole new level! * sign up as a filmmaker, actor, or both * International + interstate guests participate in Kino for free (each session costs AUD $30 for locals) * three intense, high-stakes 32 hour filmmaking sessions * a fully kitted out Kino Lab with all the gear you’ll need to make a bangin film * three screening parties with free food + drinks to celebrate all your hard work * the first two sessions will be fully-accessible for people with a disability * and of course, the chance to travel and meet like-minded Kinoites from all over the world.
Things to have a think about:
* If you don’t think you can stretch to cover accommodation, we can hook you up with a local Kino Sydney host. If you don’t mind spare beds and couch surfing this can be a great way to make new Kino friends. * Most countries have travel grants programs that will help subsidise your flight costs to come over to Australia. Arts, culture exchange, training and business development grants are all great places to start. We’re more than happy to provide letters of recommendation to help you fulfill the requirements of the grant you’re seeking. * Fundraising and crowd-sourcing are other creative options to cover the financial cost and avoid the government paperwork. * If you’re considering coming along to Kabaret, drop us a line so that we can start tidying up the place and get ready to accommodate you.
